Dr Steve Smith is a solution focused psychotherapist and coach in private practice. Formerly a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health and Wellbeing, at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, his background is in Mental Health Nursing; he has worked in his native Glasgow, the Channel Islands and the North East of Scotland for over thirty years.  Steve has been a solution focused practitioner for almost twenty-five of those years, and has spoken on solution focused interactions nationally, and internationally. He has organised several successful solution focused conferences in Scotland (including the 2012 UKASFP Annual Conference), he is a founding member of the Scottish Solution Focused Network and he sat on the editorial advisory board of the international journal 'InterAction: The Journal of Solutions Focus in Organisations'  from 2010 until 2016.

Steve has been providing training in solution focused brief therapy since 1997, and in 2006 launched the first academically accredited training course in Solution Focused Therapy, at degree level, in Scotland.  Since then he has provided training throughout the U.K., from the Isle of Orkney in the North, to Portsmouth in the South, and from Aberdeen to the Western Isles; often specialising in a whole team approach.

Steve lives in rural Angus with his wife, he has three grown-up children, a dog and (sadly) a variable number of cats.
